The Four Questions Are Like All the Mortals, Unavoidable

What is Dave wearing today? Dave is dressed for an exciting evening in front of the teevee in jeans, a pink polo shirt, and an Adidas sweatshirt.

What is making Dave happy today? Dave had a wonderful weekend with his family.

What is Dave’s inspirational thought for the day? Dave has been thinking about the power of humor:

Is Dave actually familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda? Dave is indeed familiar with the works of Pablo Neruda. He and the Complimentary Spouse have visited the late poet’s three homes in Chile. No photos were allowed inside.

This is the sign outside Neruda’s house in Santiago. The inside resembles a ship.
Neruda’s house in Valparaiso is at the top of a really steep hill and has a great view of the Pacific Ocean.
You’ll find this massive anchor at Neruda’s house in Isla Negra (which is not an island).
This pretty darn cool fish sculpture is also at the Isla Negra house.

All three of Neruda’s homes have nautical themes, and two of them have views of the ocean. We learned that Neruda loved the sea — but, believe it or not, he was scared of the water.

I am afraid of everyone,
of the cold water, of the death.
I am like all the mortals,
unavoidable.
